Court fee is calculated as a percentage of the claim amount (ad valorem) for money and property suits. For declaratory suits, injunctions, and other non-money reliefs, a fixed court fee applies. Rates differ for District Courts, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
Yes. If the dispute is settled through a Lok Adalat or before judgment is passed, you are entitled to a full refund of the court fee paid under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Yes. Courts can exempt parties from paying court fee if they are indigent. An application for permission to sue as an indigent person must be filed under Order 33 of the Civil Procedure Code.

Ad valorem court fee is a percentage of the claim value, used in money suits and property suits. Fixed court fee is a flat amount regardless of claim value, used in declaratory suits, injunctions, and matrimonial petitions.
